What is the Hocking Valley Bird Trail and

how can you help?

You may be aware that “bird watching” is the number one fastest growing outdoor recreational pursuit in the world.  It has grown by over 200% in the past two years alone!  The reason for the growth should be fairly obvious…birds are beautiful and fascinating to look at and anyone can watch birds with very little expense.

Whether you are out hiking with binoculars in hand, horseback riding, boating or fishing or just watching from the kitchen window it can be equally as exciting and fun.  In time you will most likely begin to develop your own “Life List” of bird species and even begin to plan your vacations according to bird location and movement.  Why not?  You can bird watch while you enjoy just about any vacation.

This is where the bird trail comes in.  We have one of the best areas for bird watching in the Mid-West.  Not only do we have great birds but plenty of places to stay and relax while your searching.  We have put together a team of Hocking area naturalist, biologist and great birders to do the hard work for the visiting birder.  We have located and defined some of the best birding locations throughout the area and supply the birder with accurate and up-to-date information for bird enthusiasts to plan their birding foray into the Hocking Valley.

Dollars for brochures, web-site marketing and special birding items and events get more expensive every day and utilize valuable time.  You or your organization can help in many ways both with dollars and/or time.  If you would like to help out we would love to hear from you.

Here are some projects you can help with right now!!

Bulletin Boards for each of the 20 locations along the trail……………...$470.00 each

These information areas will help to inform visiting birders about the trail and keep them up to date about the latest birding news and conservation along the Hocking Valley Birding trail.  Each board comes with a nice nameplate thanking the sponsor for their help and sponsorship.

Bluebird boxes for the trail………………………………….……..$800.00 for 100 boxes

These boxes will be placed along the trail in different areas to help with our cavity nesting Bluebirds, Tree Swallows or Carolina Wrens.

Web-site sponsorship…………………………………….……………..…………Priced yearly

Help us keep our information flowing.  Web-sites cost money and we need to keep ours up and running.  Please call for a price and date of renewal.

Birding Trail Brochures……………………………………………………………….$400.00

These full color brochures include a map of the trail, information about the areas along the trail and a list of our sponsors.  They go directly into the hands of our area birders.

Birding Trail bookmarks………………………………….……………….………….$250.00

This is a fun way to get the message out about the birding trail.  Every time a birder cracks open their bird guide they get a reminder about the trail here in the Hocking Valley.  They are also designed to be left behind at other area businesses to help garner support for the trail.

No matter which sponsorship level suits you best, we have the birding subject to fit your need.  Prices are subject to change due to possible price fluctuations.  All sponsorship includes a listing on the upcoming brochure and www.birdhocking.com.

Thanks again and we hope to see you on the birding trail!!

Sincerely,

The members of the Hocking Valley Birding Trail
